Join us to celebrate Earth Day at Robert Y. Pratt Preserve at Ebey's Landing! The bluff at Ebey’s Landing is a windswept headland laced by one of Western Washington’s most popular coastal trails. The trail offers stunning views: on a clear day, the Olympic Peninsula and the Strait of Juan de Fuca, south to Mount Rainier, and east over historic farmland and prairie to the Cascade Mountains. This event will start with a hike along the bluff trail followed by a beach clean-up as we move along the beach on our way back to the parking lot. Every year, large amounts of micro and macro garbage washes up along the beach due to winter tides. With help from volunteers like you, we can help remove garbage, make sure the beaches stay clean, and take care of this beautiful preserve.

Need to know information:

  • In total, this is about a 3.5-mile loop hike with 260 feet of elevation gain. This trail is considered easy-moderate in difficulty. This trail includes short sections of steep downhill that may be more challenging for some users.
  • There is a pit toilet at the trailhead. There are no other bathrooms along the hike.
  • This trail has minimal shade coverage and is exposed to sun and wind.
  • The trail is a mixture of sandy, compacted dirt, steps, with steep and/or narrow trails at times. Hiking poles are recommended for those who may have trouble with steep downhill sections.
  • Most garbage washes up in the driftwood. To access it requires frequent bending, squatting, traversing over unstable terrain, and/or kneeling.
  • This event is suitable for ages 12+. All minors must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
  • Dogs are allowed on this preserve but for the purposes of this event, we ask that you leave your furry friends at home. Service dogs are always allowed.
  • This event is not ADA accessible.
