Tell Lawmakers to Fund Minnesota’s Forests
Trees help provide clean water and air, offer habitat for wildlife, and sequester massive amounts of carbon. In fact, they’re Minnesota’s greatest natural climate solution.
But our forests need our help.
Your state legislators need to know you care about investing in forests. From planting tree seedlings to managing destructive pest outbreaks and reducing the risk of wildfires, Minnesota needs public funding for forest management to keep our forests healthy and resilient.
Send a letter to your Minnesota legislators today. Ask them to support funding for the stewardship and conservation of our state’s great forests.
This letter will be delivered via email to:
Your Minnesota state senator
Your Minnesota state representative
Please support funding for Minnesota’s forests
Dear Lawmakers,
Minnesota’s forests help provide clean water, fresh air, and habitat for our iconic wildlife. Trees also act as a natural climate solution, sequestering carbon and making us more resilient in the face of climate change. This legislative session, I urge you to support investments in forest management.
Programs at the Department of Natural Resources like reforestation and forest stand improvement are essential for long-term forest health. HF1332/SF1833 allocates $10 million for reforestation, which would support replanting of trees after timber harvest or in places that were historically forested. It also dedicates $8 million to improving forest health through efforts like planting seedlings and treating pest outbreaks.
Additionally, I encourage you to support passage of citizen council recommendations for dedicated funding from the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment and the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund, both of which support projects that keep our forests healthy.
Thank you for your service to the state of Minnesota during the 2025 legislative session.
