Stretching 156 miles along Florida’s East Coast, the Indian River Lagoon (IRL) is one of North America’s most biologically diverse estuaries—home to more than 4,300 species, including wading birds, manatees and dolphins. Despite its vastness, the IRL is under threat from pollutants and excess nutrients entering the estuary through stormwater runoff putting aquatic life, livelihoods, and local economies at risk. Aboard FAU Harbor Branch's pontoon boat, explore the lagoon’s wildlife and gain insight into ongoing research through an immersive tour. Following our boat ride, discover how TNC is using innovative technology to pilot a smart stormwater management system to improve water quality in the IRL.
