Tell New York State lawmakers to protect clean air
In 2019, New York took bold action to protect New York families from the escalating threats of climate change: polluted air, respiratory diseases, deadly heatwaves and floods. Confronting these challenges requires addressing their source: fossil fuels.
To protect clean air and the health of our families and future generations, we need a clean energy economy as soon as possible.
New York State has made critical investments to meet our climate goals. Those investments are cleaning the air we breathe, creating good jobs, and producing locally generated energy. We need to keep working to meet the state’s pollution reduction goals.
Instead, lawmakers are considering rolling back our state climate goals as part of closed-door discussions about the state budget.
We need you to speak up now.
Tell Governor Hochul and the State Legislature you support New York’s climate goals. Tell them not to change the climate law during state budget negotiations.
This letter will be delivered via email to:
New York Governor Kathy Hochul
Your New York state senator
Your New York state representative
I support New York’s climate goals
Dear Governor Hochul and Lawmakers,
I support New York’s climate goals. It is important to me that we reduce air pollution that makes us sick and causes extreme weather like heatwaves and flooding. The benefits of building a clean energy economy are enormous, including cleaner air to breathe and locally generated energy that is reliable and affordable.
I urge you to keep working to meet New York’s climate and clean air goals. Don’t back away from New York’s position as a national leader. Please do not make changes to New York’s landmark climate law behind closed doors during state budget negotiations.
