Climate change poses an urgent threat to our oceans and the coastal communities, livelihoods, and food systems that depend on them. To counter this threat, seven shellfish farms banded together with The Nature Conservancy to launch The Shellfish Growers Climate Coalition—a group working to secure a low-carbon future for the sake of their businesses and marine ecosystems. This partnership is part of TNC’s efforts to meet its 2030 goal to implement smart climate policy.

The Coalition has grown rapidly to more than 250 members representing the whole shellfish supply chain, including hatcheries, farms, wholesalers, and restaurants. By sharing our stories with the shellfish-loving public and with state and federal policy makers, the Coalition is working towards a better future for our planet.
