Tell Congress: Protect Conservation Funding

Over the past few years, bipartisan support for nature has been on the rise. For example, we’ve seen the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the Great American Outdoors Act. These historic policy wins show just how far we’ve come in making conservation and climate action central and urgent policy issues in the United States.

But we need to protect the critical conservation and climate funding that was part of these laws, given that we have years—not decades—to address the intertwined crises of climate change and the loss of plant and animal species.

Cutting this funding wouldn’t just hurt our wildlife and natural lands. It would harm our communities, jobs and economy. We need Congress to sustain funding that safeguards the lands and waters we rely on. We can’t afford to take a step back.

We’re calling on Congress to protect vital conservation and climate funding that results in cleaner air and water, accelerates the clean energy transition, boosts community resilience and supports important conservation efforts.

Please stand up for nature by preserving conservation and climate funding

I care deeply about our lands and waters—and the communities and wildlife that rely on them. As Congress makes critical decisions on government funding, I’m counting on you to preserve funding that helps protect our most cherished natural resources and the many benefits nature provides.

Conservation and climate programs represent a small fraction of the federal budget, but the impact of losing this funding is enormous. Cutting this funding won’t just hurt our lands, waters and wildlife. It would also harm our communities, jobs and economy. Activities like outdoor recreation and natural resource conservation support rural communities, create millions of jobs and contribute over $1 trillion to the economy each year.

I urge you to protect, champion and vote for conservation and climate funding that helps fuel our economy and addresses the critical challenges facing our communities and the natural world.
