Squirrels plan ahead by burying their nuts in preparation for winter, but they only recover 26% of these hidden treasures, according to a study done at the University of Richmond. In fact, the displacement of so many acorns (the seeds of oak trees) actually helps with the growth of oak forests!

One of the simplest steps you can take to protect nature for future generations is to make a lasting gift to The Nature Conservancy through your will, retirement plan or life insurance policy — and it’s as easy as signing your name.
